We are proud to announce that Spectral has been selected as one of the winners of the Innovation Impact Challenge (formerly known as SBIR), organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and Topsector Energie Systeemintegratie. This prestigious competition recognizes groundbreaking solutions aimed at optimizing the capacity of electricity networks and tackling grid congestion.
Our award-winning platform BRIGHTER is designed to manage peak power consumption and enable more flexible energy usage across buildings. We are excited to share that, thanks to the recognition from the Innovation Impact Challenge, we’ve received funding from RVO to develop a new peak power management module. The goal is to not only improve energy efficiency and comfort but also to manage peak power demand more effectively.
Gerben Vermeulen, Energy Consultant Lead at Spectral, explains:
“The potential in the market is enormous. In the Netherlands alone, up to 500 MW of flexible capacity can be unlocked by optimizing existing infrastructure—all without requiring new investments. This is just the beginning; when buildings are heated using heat pumps and WKO systems, this potential could grow even further, helping to reduce grid congestion and improve energy efficiency.”
By optimizing existing systems, BRIGHTER helps reduce energy consumption, saving up to 30% on gas and up to 10% on electricity—maximizing the value of what we already have.
We are excited about the recognition and look forward to further developing BRIGHTER to contribute to a smarter, more sustainable, and more resilient energy system.
