ABOUT THE POSITION

The position will involve a leading role working on the development of a virtual power plant platform for grid power management. The platform enables distributed energy generation, storage, and consumption devices to be aggregated and remotely controlled to optimize energy management. The platform consists of various software / hardware modules for steering energy storage systems, smart / dumb appliances, electric vehicle chargers, and other sources of demand flexibility.

We’re looking for a highly motivated, experienced developer to join our core team. We need someone who knows their way around both software and hardware, has a high attention to detail, and can work well in dynamic, high-pressure environments (it won’t always be like that, but occasionally we’ll need to make things happen…fast). The candidate should be capable of managing complex projects, working within a diverse team, and providing guidance to juniors. Ultimately, we need a multi-talented, excited rock-star who is passionate about our mission and driven to do awesome work, together.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of programming experience

INTERNSHIPS

We accept applicants starting mid Q2 2017, and the internship should last for a minimum of 4 months.

The internship will involve working on the development of a virtual power plant platform for grid power management. The platform enables distributed energy generation, storage, and consumption devices to be aggregated and remotely controlled to optimize energy management. The platform consists of various software / hardware modules for steering energy storage systems, smart / dumb appliances, electric vehicle chargers, and other sources of demand flexibility.

Spectral is looking for masters-level applicants with a background in electrical engineering, or computer science, with a specialization in embedded systems, programming, or power systems engineering.

Additionally, you should:

  • Have experience with programming
  • Have a passion for sustainability and clean technology
  • Be able to work independently
  • Have an ability to build things and work with your hands
  • Work well in a diverse team
  • Be fluent in English (with Dutch as a plus!)
  • Have a European residence
