NRG2Peers

Peer-to-peer communities in a European context to increase energy efficiency and integrate a higher share of renewable energy

NRG2peers is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to support the uptake of next-generation peer to peer energy communities in Europe. Peer to peer relates to the ability to exchange energy amongst the members of a project, which increase energy efficiency as well as increasing the share of renewable energies. In addition to that, a readiness level indicator tool is developed, where community members can, based on their present assets, determine their readiness for a smart community and tips with regards to the implementation of this.

1
Challenge

Currently, there are several energy communities across Europe that enables its users to strengthen their energy portfolio and co-creation. However, all of these communities face multiple challenges. Those challenges are not solely technical in nature, but organisational challenges are also faced. The NRG2peers project will create a platform to gather experiences, knowledge and lessons learned amongst those communities. This platform can help you identify whether your neighbourhood or municipality is ready to set up an energy community.
